Glamping is all the rage these days. So obviously there is going to be tech to make your camping a lot more bearable. Enter the FlameStower which is a portable charger unit or your tech that uses the heat from your campfire and a bit of water. The use of the FlameStower is rather simple in its usage and it folds up like a deck of cards so that you can easily put it in your backpack, take it to camp, and even use it in your tent. To charge your phone, Apple Watch, flashlights, or anything else that charges, all you simply need to do is unfold it and place it near an open fire and add a bit of water into the holder. Then just plug in the other end to whatever you want to charge up.
The FlameStower Fire Charger works with the energy of your cooking or camp fires. Once the blade is in a fire, the thermal energy is transferred to the Thermoelectric Generator (TEG). The opposite surface of the TEG is in contact with the water reservoir – hot side gets hot, cold side stays relatively cool, and the temperature difference generates electricity.
The charge rate is obviously going to be slower then your typical wall outlet. In our tests, we got about 2 minutes of battery for every 1 minute the unit was charging at full. Just being able to charge at all while in the wilderness is a great thing for me. This will be in my camping gear from now on.
